Artist Statement
I am gradually entering mid-life as time marches forward, a state of mind leading me to take heed, to explore the issue of ‘what is human being’ over and over again. Reflecting on the past, appreciating the present moment and feeling anxiety about the future, through the changing and unchanging patterns of nature I discover the mysteries of being - how mysterious yet wonderful indeed life is! Isn't art as well?
I have shattered those self-images of the past, personal interests, tastes, preferences formed under influence or through living experience. As the sediments settle down, I continue to seek for different ways of selecting, modifying, and implementing these fragments into a pictorial form via a simplified approach. Subsequently, within most of these artworks, I wish to reveal the visual tensions circulate in-between the virtual and the real, an inter-play of the minute and the overall image.
